Recombinant Prokaryotic Lectins (RPLs)

RPLs  recognize and bind to specific glycan structures displayed on glycoproteins and other glycosylated biomolecules.

These molecules present many advantages over existing analytical and purification methods. Their production is also readily scalable, enabling their use for all applications, from analytical to production scale.

They can therefore enable simple, fast, and efficient detection, analysis, separation, and purification of intact glycosylated biomolecules.

Unlike with traditional plant & eukaryotic lectins, RPLs production easily delivers high-quality products with consistent performance and enhanced glycan specificity and affinity. This property enables higher yields of these molecules and makes them suitable for applications in larger-scale separation and purification methods.

Products

GlycoSeLect has developed a range of RPL products exhibiting specificity and high affinity for a range of glycan epitopes displaying terminal galactose and mannose (including high mannose structures).

All RPL products display a poly-histidine tag enabling simple detection using standard conjugated anti-his detection antibodies negating a requirement for in vitro labeling (e.g. biotinylation).

Biopharmaceutical

Our RPLs can be easily integrated into a wide range of analytical platforms and have multiple applications, from product development to production. The diversity of solid support matrices that RPLs can be immobilized on and the easy scalability of their production, allows huge flexibility in glycoselective bioaffinity-based purification, even for large scale use.


Diagnostic & Research

RPLs provide a great tool for identification of novel glycan-based biomarkers and present an opportunity for new diagnostic approaches. They can also be used for the detection and analysis of glycans in situ, for the purposes of cell identification, and the classification of microorganisms or other infectious agents.

RPLs can be used to extract valuable glycoproteins from food industry raw material streams.

Glycans play an important role in maintaining the structure and health of the skin. RPLs represent useful tools for studying the glycobiology of the skin.
